If you're thinking about your plans for the New Year already, you might want to put this on your schedule! The first meeting in 2007 for the Japan House Volunteer Cultural Enrichment Group will be on Wednesday, January 10 at 5:00. After our January meeting we will return to our schedule of the first Wednesday of the month.
We are very fortunate because Mr. Hiromi Matsushita (priest name of Kokai) is visiting Champaign-Urbana and has offered to speak to our group on Buddhism. Some of you may recall that Mr. Matsushita visited us in 2005. After working as the Director of Human Resources for UBS Securities Japan Limited, the Investment Bank Division of Swiss Bank, for twelve years, he left to become a Tendai Sect monk and lead a quieter and more spiritually connected life. This will be a very special evening.
Our meeting are open to all, please join us.
As is the custom in Japan, we are readying for the new year by cleaning our house! Mr. Matsushita helped Japan House staff member Keiko Liao clean all the tatami mats... We look forward to welcoming you here in the new year.
