The University of Illinois Arboretum will be playing host to the 2011 Illini Jamboree for the Boy Scouts of America this weekend. Between 800 and 900 Scouts and Leaders will be here from Friday, September 9 through Sunday, September 11, 2011! The large parking lot south of Japan House will be used for related activities and the troops will be camping in the area just south of that lot.
Due to the large crowds and the fragility of the walled tea garden, we will be closing that off, as we do during the winter months. The Scouts will be able to enjoy the Japan House Dry Garden (to the east of Japan House) with their Leaders if they are interested. We will re-open the Walled Tea Garden on Monday, September 12, 2011.
We welcome the Scouts and Leaders, and thank you for your understanding about reduced access to Japan House during this busy weekend.
